A Romantic Rollercoaster with Some Bumps Along the Way.
Pavan Wadeyar directed “Googly”, a roller-coaster romantic film that blends love, drama and some pinch of sentimentality. With a powerful script in his hands, Wadeyar tells a story of youthful love though it occasionally loses track.
Sharath is the center of attraction in this film. A businessperson who has gone through everything in life, he never cares what others think about him whatsoever. She is at medical school when Swathi falls for him and starts to date her while understanding that he has no intention of stopping being wayward (p. 1).
At one point or another, she learns about other relationships that Sharath had before their own happenings. Suddenly the two hated each other so much as if they were once very good friends who had fallen out with each other over something trivial (p. 2).
Yash steals the show as Sharath by bringing out his character’s appealing and profound nature particularly during those emotional scenes we call in films ‘sentimentality’. Kriti Kharabanda, on the other hand, portrays Swathi realistically displaying elegance.
Its soundtrack composed by Joshua Sridhar is catchy and cinematographer Vaidi makes up for stunning visuals although there are areas where these do not work quite well making the movie flawed too. The articles move slowly sometimes till you start getting bored (p. 3). Pavan Wadeyar could have cut off fifteen minutes from the movie to make it more exciting.
Despite its shortcomings, “Googly” offers a captivating glimpse into the complexities of love and relationships. With its engaging storyline and standout performances, the film is a worthy addition to the romantic drama genre. However, viewers should be prepared for a few bumps along the way as they navigate through Sharath and Swathi’s tumultuous journey of love and heartbreak.
